Friday night in San Francisco, the Padres defeated the Giants 7-3 in 13 innings.

It was the Padres‘ fifth game of 13 innings or more capped by the 22-inning, 2-1 marathon loss to the Rockies on April 17 at Petco Park. Last Sunday, the Padres went 18 innings against the Reds, winning 9-6 on Adrian Gonzalez’s three-run homer.

Friday night was also the Padres‘ third extra-inning game against the Giants. Earlier this season, the Giants defeated the Padres 3-2 in 11 innings in San Francisco and 3-2 in 13 innings in San Diego.

The Padres are now 3-3 in their six extra-inning marathons, which have averaged six extra innings per game.

Whatever ails your team, don’t blame the weather. Overall, this spring hasn’t been a lot different from most colder, for sure, across the swath of states from Chicago to Boston than in the rest of the nation but not at all out of line with previous years.
